This application of BMW eDrive technologies features the first PHEV system with a front/transverse-mounted. In the prototype of a BMW 2 Series Active Tourer with plug-in hybrid system, the front wheels are driven by a three-cylinder gasoline engine and the rear wheels by an electric motor.
