The 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show opens to the public today with a glittering display of green cars taking pride of place. The show, based at the Los Angeles Convention Center will host more than 30 significant world and North American debuts and feature more than 900 vehicles from sports cars and sedans to crossovers and minivans.

The company also announced in June that it will build electric family sized minivans, SUVs and fleet vans with DOE funding (see article ) and it has formed a partnership with Daimler to provide powertrain components for the electric Smart car. The company hopes to begin selling the Fisker Karma in mid 2010 in Europe. Faye Sunderland.
