2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N production to kick off in November as 126 people join the queue for high-performance EV
Hyundai’s most expensive vehicle in Australia, and the N sub-brand’s first high-performance EV, will go into production in November, with more than 126 Australians joining the queue for the $111,000 Ioniq 5 N.
The Ioniq N’s first sales window opened for just 12 hours, ostensibly for Hyundai to measure demand for the vehicle, with the hi-po EV attracting 126 orders — or almost $14m worth of sales.
Production for Australia will begin in November, with Hyundai expecting to deliver to all currently in the queue in early 2024.
The brand says it isn’t facing stock shortages or limited supply, and is hopeful future orders – which will be under a build-on-demand system – will be able to go into production almost immediately.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N will be the most powerful car from the brand, with the dual-motor high-performance SUV thumping out 478kW and 770Nm – the same power as a Porsche 911 Turbo S – and which will knock off the sprint to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds.
At the heart of the Ioniq 5 N is a new 84kWh battery pack, larger than that used in regular Ioniq 5s, which a 424km driving range. Features like N Drift Optimiser, Torque Kick Drift, Drag Mode, N Race and N Grin Boost all up the performance ante further.
“We put an enormous amount of energy and thinking developing the Ioniq 5 N,” says Till Wartenberg, vice president of Hyundai’s N brand and motorsport division.
