I was able to spend 10 minutes driving a Saturn Aura sedan with an (HCCI) engine system. A pure HCCI mode, during light to medium loads, when no spark event is required for combustion. A mixed HCCI mode, light loads and moderately cold engine, where a spark is used to initiate but the bulk of the combustion is done by HCCI.
