The CrossBlue Coupé—based off the Volkswagen Group’s MQB architecture (the Group’s modular assembly kit for vehicles with transverse-mounted engines)—features a transverse-mounted turbocharged direct-injection (TSI) 220 kW (295 hp) 3.0L The DQ 400 E hybrid transmission is also being applied in the upcoming Audi A3 plug-in hybrid.

Last year, Audi engineers introduced their then new series-production 2.0 Cylinder deactivation, another subassembly from the EA211 engine assembly kit, has been improved and is entering volume production with the TSI evo.
