Tesla’s Giga Berlin recently celebrated Girls Day 2022 by inviting over 60 girls from the State of Brandenberg to visit Giga Berlin, Moz.de, reports. The article notes that the young school girls chose a black car door that was colorfully decorated with Tesla logos and the lettering spelling out Girls Day.

Tesmanian reported on the story as well and added that the educational event was to encourage girls to think about tech careers. The girls were between 12 to 18 years of age and Tesla shared the day-to-day work of an EV factory with them. The goal, Tesmanian noted, was to break all and any stereotypes that both the tech and automotive industries are not for women.

Tesla participated in the 20th Future Day held in Brandenburg and was one of 405 businesses encouraging school children to visit and learn about working. Although a total of 4,300 schoolchildren took the opportunity, Tesla only invited girls and this was most likely due to the usual stereotypes.

One 14-year-old schoolgirl, Serafine Fischer, has a desire to work in the arts and Tesla could be the place where she could gain experience. “There are also creative designer areas here. I could definitely imagine doing an internship here and taking a closer look at everything,” she said.

As an artist who never went to college, I would not think of Tesla or any other automaker as a place to work in the arts — especially 20 years ago when I was just planning to graduate high school. I graduated in 2003 and my focus wasn’t really on college but on getting a job. In fact, I worked full-time during my final year of high school. However, working didn’t stop me from writing or getting creative, and most of my supervisors encouraged my art at my first job. I think it’s important for all employers to encourage the arts. Tesla and other tech companies are certainly doing this and it’s also great to see the arts as a field expanding. Overall, young people should realize that many types of jobs are useful at large corporations, no matter the sector.
