BYD to add another 183 electric buses to Santiago’s fleet

The Chilean Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Gloria Hutt, recently announced a new order for 183 BYD electric buses for the Chilean capital of Santiago, due to arrive in August of this year. The first 100 BYD buses were delivered to Santiago in December 2018.

BYD wins order for another 406 electric buses in Bogotá, Colombia

BYD won an order to deliver another 406 battery-electric buses to the Colombian capital of Bogotá, coming shortly after a previous announcement on 17 December of the delivery of the 470 pure electric buses to the city. BYD will co-work with Superpolo, a Colombian bus manufacturer, on the body part of the buses for such order.

Bogotá orders 379 electric buses from BYD

BYD will provide the Colombian capital of Bogotá with a fleet of 379 pure electric buses, in a deal awarded by the capital’s TransMilenio SA mass transport authority. This order also sees BYD again smashing the record for the largest electric bus order in the Americas, following its delivery of 183 buses to Chile during August 2019.

BYD has seen rapid growth in its automotive business over the past two years. Just last year, BYD tripled its annual vehicle sales, with the vast majority of those being sold in China.

Uruguay launches first BYD battery-electric buses; projecting 500 by 2015

in partnership with Chinese automaker BYD Ltd, introduced the first battery-electric 12-meter rapid transit bus in Uruguay and the region. The BYD battery technology also allows for a full charge in less than 5 hours. By 2015 it is expected that more than 500 BYD electric buses will be running on the streets and roads of Uruguay.
