Goodbye To the Minivan. Kia is out of the minivan business and is shaking up things with the all-new 2022 Carnival. The Korean car company will remind you it is not a minivan but an MPV or Multi-Purpose Vehicle. With those words it hopes to remove the stigma of people saying “I will never own a minivan.”. However, even as new car buyers look more deeply into alternative fuel options, traditional combustion engine vehicles still get the nod by more than half (59%) of consumers as a vehicle choice they will consider for their next purchase. Beyond fuel choices, new car selection is also heavily based on opinions about vehicle quality.

In all, 73% of participants said they would consider some type of alternatively fueled vehicle, with flex-fuel and hybrid models leading the way. Younger buyers were more likely to consider an alternatively fueled or purely electric vehicle than drivers over the age of 55.

Chrysler calls it a “multipurpose vehicle,” but we will stick with modern minivan. The only minivan with a plug. If Chrysler had their way, you will see it more as a multi-purpose vehicle than a minivan. The minivan stigma is exactly that, as the Pacifica Hybrid is as modern and versatile as anything on the road.

When Clean Fleet Report first reviewed the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid in 2017, it was the only electrified minivan on the market.
