The US Department of Energy (DOE) has selected 25 cost-share projects under the Clean Cities program that will be funded with nearly $300 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Selected projects, by size of award, are: State of Wisconsin’s Wisconsin Clean Transportation Program. Total DOE award: $15,000,000.

The California Air Resources Board launched a $20 million funding assistance program designed to spur the purchase of hybrid trucks and buses that reduce smog-forming pollution and address climate change. Hybrid vehicles also reduce smog-forming emissions while saving vehicle owners money in reduced fuel costs.

Each of the four recipients will match a percentage of the grant amount with their own funds to purchase compressed natural gas-powered vehicles; retrofit diesel engines with cleaner technology; replace older, more polluting diesel buses with cleaner diesel buses; or purchase hybrid electric-powered buses.
