BMW introduced the eighth generation of the BMW 5 Series Sedan, including two all-electric i5 variants; BMW will extend the range to include two plug-in hybrid variants (530e and 550e xDrive) from the spring of 2024. BMW i5 M60 xDrive Two highly integrated drive units on the front and rear axles make up an electric all-wheel drive.

GM reveals new Ultium Drive EV motors designed and developed in-house with GM propulsion software

At the 2021 Mackinac Policy Conference, General Motors President Mark Reuss revealed GM’s group of three all-new motors that will power its Ultium-based EVs. Designed by GM, the 180kW front-drive motor, 255kW rear- and front-drive motor and 62kW all-wheel drive assist motor are part of Ultium Drive.

Four Siemens 1200 kW electric motors power world’s largest truck; all-wheel drive

The world’s biggest truck—the more than 800-ton GVW BelAZ 75710 mining truck—is powered by an electric drive system comprising four electric traction motors from Siemens, each with an output of 1,200 kilowatts (approximately 1,800 hp). The truck has a maximum speed of 64 km/h (40 mph) when empty.

Rolls-Royce to power Vertical Aerospace’s all-electric eVTOL UAM aircraft
