Volvo Cars reported global sales of 51,286 cars in February, up 22% compared to the same month last year and a record for the month of February. The sales growth was led by the company’s Recharge line up of fully electric and plug-in hybrid cars. In February 2022, the share of all-electrics was only 8% (3,338 units out of 42,067).

Volvo Cars launched the battery-electric Volvo C40 Recharge; based on the CMA vehicle platform it is the first Volvo model designed as pure electric only. Following the introduction of the XC40 Recharge and now the C40 Recharge, Volvo Cars will roll out several additional electric models in coming years.

Volvo Cars reported sales of 162,938 cars for Q1 2023, up 10% compared to the same period last year. The sales growth was mainly led by the company’s fully electric cars. For the month of March, Volvo Cars sold 63,132 cars globally, up 8% compared with the same month last year.

Volvo Trucks is opening its first battery assembly plant. Located in Ghent, Belgium, the plant will supply ready-to-install batteries for Volvo Trucks’ full electric heavy-duty trucks. By 2030, at least 50 percent of all trucks we sell globally will be electric and by 2040, we will be a carbon-neutral company.

Volvo Cars formally inaugurated a new battery assembly line at its Belgian manufacturing plant in Ghent, where it will start building its first fully electric car, the XC40 Recharge P8, later this year. Volvo XC40 Recharge powertrain. The XC40 Recharge P8 is the first of a family of fully electric Volvos.

Volvo Trucks is now testing hydrogen-powered electric trucks on public roads above the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden; ice, wind and lots of snow make an ideal testing environment. Trucks are operating seven days a week and in all types of weather. Tests with hauliers will start a few years before the commercial launch.

Volvo Group is the first truck manufacturer to launch an Augmented Reality (AR) safety app for electric trucks, designed specifically to support first responders in an emergency. For Mack electric trucks, the AR features will be added during June 2023.
