In my research at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, I study the brains of one of these larger insects, the dragonfly. Once it comes out of its nymph stage as a winged adult (technically referred to as a teneral), the dragonfly does not have a parent to feed it or show it how to hunt. Each has some 250,000 neurons.
