Several automakers have promised affordable EVs, but so far, none have truly delivered. The car’s starting price is expected to come in at under $35,000, which would make it one of the most affordable electric models in the U.S., EV tax credits, but Kia has begun production of the EV9 in Georgia, and Hyundai will follow suit soon.

Kia’s EV sales hit new record in first half of 2024 Kia is on a roll in the US with affordable, long-range models like the three-row EV9 and EV6, reaching buyers. Kia kicked off EV9 production in Georgia in May as the first EV built in the state. With the $7,500 federal tax credit, prices fall to as low as $48,995.

In fact, Kia’s CEO said the company was pushing forward with plans to release an affordable electric car called the EV3. That should help keep costs in the low $30,000 range, a significant departure from most EVs, which are notably more expensive. Kia is also moving to improve its North American EV manufacturing footprint.
