Poland-based Romet Introduces Low-Cost NEV Prototype

Polish firm Romet presented at Intermot 2010 in Cologne a prototype of small neighborhood electric car (NEV) named 4E (Electric, Economic, Ecologic, Easy). The 4E may go into production in 2011, mainly for Western European markets.

Pricing isn’s set yet, but is projected to be in the range of €6,000-7,000.
The two-seater is powered by two BLDC motors, with total power of about 4 kW, and is powered by a Li-ion or lead-acid battery pack, with a capacity of about 10 kWh. Top speed is 45 km/h (28 mph) with a range of about 100 km (62 miles).

A good solution for young drivers and students. With added foam bumpers, we could see a major drop in fatal accidents and major injuries if this would be the only vehicle they could drive before the age of 21 or 25.
