said it delivered 2,190 SUVs and 6,316 sedans in January, without providing a breakdown of specific models.

Nio (NYSE: NIO) saw deliveries decline in January compared to December, as the Chinese New Year holiday negatively impacted delivery activity for a large number of automakers.

The company delivered 8,506 vehicles in January, down 46.22 percent from 15,815 vehicles in December and down 11.87 percent from 9,652 vehicles in the same month last year, data released today showed.

That delivery included 2,190 SUVs, and 6,316 sedans, Nio said, without providing a breakdown of specific models.

Nio is currently selling the old ES8, ES7, ES6, EC6, ET7, ET5. It launched two new models -- EC7 as well as the new ES8 -- on Nio Day 2022, which was held on December 24, 2022, with deliveries to begin in May and June 2023, respectively.

Among them, ES8, ES7, ES6, EC7, EC6 are SUV models, while ET7 and ET5 are sedan models.

Cumulative deliveries of Nio vehicles reached 298,062 units as of January 31. January 21 to January 27 was the just past Chinese New Year holiday.

Separately, an article posted by Nio on its WeChat account said that the ET7, ES7, and ET5 contributed 85.6 percent of January deliveries. This means that these three models based on the NT 2.0 platform delivered 7,281 vehicles in January.

CnEVPost's calculations based on this information show that the ES7 delivered 965 units in January.

Notably, Nio announced on December 12 that it saw its 300,000th production vehicle roll off the line, an ET5 sedan from its plant in NeoPark.

The company's management had expected to see the 300,000th Nio vehicle delivered around January 1, but that did not materialize.

From January 13, 2023, to January 31, 2023, the peak travel period around the Chinese New Year holiday, Nio served more than 1 million battery swaps to customers, it said today.

More than 300,000 of those battery swaps were done at swap stations along highways, and more than 11,000 services were flexible battery upgrades to enhance the long-distance travel experience, it said.

In October 2022, Nio launched three models for the European market at the Nio Berlin event -- the ET7, EL7 and ET5.

ET7 deliveries have already started in five countries -- Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. EL deliveries began in Europe on January 31, while ET5 deliveries will begin at the end of March 2023.

Vehicles subscribed by Nio in Europe are recognized as assets on the company's balance sheet, but are not counted in the announced deliveries, the company previously said.
