Sister brand Lexus is closing in on 50,000 UK sales, achieved since the debut there of the RX 400h in 2005. Notably, a fleet customer will be taking delivery of the 100,000 th UK hybrid, reflecting the advantages of low company car tax rates and running costs and high reliability.

Since the company's first hybrid, the Lexus RX 400h hit the roads in 2005, over 506,000 have followed. 259,000 RX 400h and RX 450h models have rolled. Luxury automaker Lexus has hit a major milestone in hybrid sales: Half a million units.

The company reached the 3-million mark with its hybrids in February 2011. In third place is the Rx 400h/Rx 450h, with 238.6 Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announced that global cumulative sales of its hybrid vehicles—passenger car and commercial—topped the 4-million unit mark as of 30 April. of those sales outside of Japan.

Discounts on company car taxation for hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles will be scrapped under new tax terms revealed as part of yesterday’s Budget. The changes will affect the most polluting hybrids such as the Lexus RX 400H and biofuel ready cars such as the Saab 9-5 Biopower.
