According to a new study published by the ifo Institue Center for Economic Studies (CESifo) in Germany, EVs will barely help cut CO 2 emissions in the country over the coming years, as the introduction of electric vehicles does not necessarily lead to a reduction in CO 2 emissions from road traffic given the current power generation mix.

Volkswagen has been testing the newly developed R33 BlueDiesel fuel blend at its in-house filling station in Wolfsburg since January 2018. The current supplier since January 2018 is Shell Global Solutions in cooperation with Tecosol and Neste, who supply fuels certified according to European standards.

The Coradia iLint has been conducting in successful passenger service between Cuxhaven and Buxtehude since September 2018. —Olaf Lies (SPD), Lower Saxony’s Minister for the Environment, Energy, Construction and Climate Protection. Since then, it has already traveled more than 150,000 kilometers.

The joint venture ELYSIS —formed by Alcoa and Rio Tinto in 2018 ( earlier post )—is now further developing this process. The Audi e-tron GT is the first Audi electric car to be built in the Böllinger Höfe at the Neckarsulm site in Germany. The site has been supplied with renewable energy since 2020.
