In March, Cummins began delivering eight Cummins-powered all-electric vehicles to the United States Postal Service (USPS) in California. The fully-electric Cummins PowerDrive equipped vans are expected to reduce fuel and maintenance costs as well as eliminate emissions.

Electrify America plans to invest $200 million in California Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) infrastructure and education programs over the next 30 months. Additionally, Electrify America will strive to ensure that 35% of the investment is in low-income and disadvantaged communities, as guided by California Air Resources Board (CARB).

Lightning was one of the first to test under the newly released 2018 CARB efficiency and range validation test procedures for medium-duty vehicles, performed at the SGS Environmental Testing Center. The fuel cell uses hydrogen to charge the electric batteries for a longer-range zero-emissions fleet solution.

The staff of California Air Resources Board (ARB) is in the process of developing a proposal for Board’s consideration later this year to amend California’s Low-Emission Vehicle (LEV) regulations. The community meetings are currently scheduled for Fresno (12 July); Pacoima (19 July); and Oakland (26 July).

The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has released the public discussion draft of the required update to the AB 32 Scoping Plan. The Scoping Plan describes the comprehensive range of efforts California must take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020 and meet the state’s long-term goals to combat climate change.
