DOE estimates EV battery pack costs in 2022 nearly 90% lower than in 2008

The Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Vehicle Technologies Office estimates the cost of an electric vehicle lithium-ion battery pack declined 89% between 2008 and 2022 (using 2022 constant dollars). The decline in cost is due to improvements in battery technologies and chemistries, and an increase in manufacturing volume.

Lightning eMotors partners with ABB to provide DC fast chargers

Lightning eMotors, a provider of specialty commercial electric vehicles for fleets, and ABB announced a partnership to offer DC fast electric vehicle chargers for commercial electric fleet vehicles. The high-output 20 kW to 350 kW DC fast chargers will be available via Lightning Energy, a division of Colorado-based Lightning eMotors.

More than half of transit buses in the US were powered by alternative fuels and advanced technologies in 2018

According to the American Public Transit Association (APTA), alternative fuels and advanced hybrid drivetrains powered more than half of all transit buses in 2017 and 2018. In the ten-year period from 2008 to 2018, the share of conventional diesel buses dropped from 70% to 42%.
