In 2016, more than two-thirds of the Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold in China were made at BBAC. BBAC’s total local production output passed the 1,000,000-unit mark in November 2016. BBAC, a joint venture between Daimler and its Chinese partner BAIC Motor, has been producing Mercedes-Benz passenger cars since 2005 and engines since 2013.

The 2016 awards ceremony will take place at a banquet during the North American International Auto Show on 13 January 2016, in Detroit.

Consumer Reports has confirmed the 52-mpg combined EPA fuel-economy rating of the 2016 Toyota Prius hybrid, although its ratings in city and highway testing differed. Nonetheless, the magazine says the 2016 Prius is the most fuel-efficient car it's ever tested.

Germany’s Manager Magazin reports that Volkswagen AG’s internal analysis puts the cost of the diesel emissions scandal at more than €30 billion (US$33 billion). In addition to cost-cutting, the Group will put an increased emphasis on improving efficiency, the report said.
