Cellunolix sawdust to ethanol plant to be built in Finland

North European Bio Tech Oy (NEB) has made an investment decision concerning the construction of a bioethanol plant on the Renforsin Ranta industrial estate in Kajaani, Finland. The plant is projected to begin production in mid-2016. The raw material for the plant will be sawdust from local sources. —NEOT CEO Henrikki Talvitie.

Neste launches Neste MY Renewable Diesel made 100% from waste and residues in Finland; initial customers

Sales of Neste MY will begin at Neste service stations in Finland, namely Espoo Piispanmäki, Vantaa Ilmakehä, Helsinki Konala, Espoo Otaniemi, Espoo Olari and Vantaa Varisto. During January, sales of Neste MY will also expand to select Neste Truck stations for heavy traffic in Finland.

Novozymes to supply enzymes to St1 Biofuels in Finland for cellulosic ethanol from sawdust

Novozymes will supply enzyme technology to a new biorefinery that will be built by St1 Biofuels in Kajaani, Finland. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2015, with production expected to start in 2016. The construction of the biorefinery supports Finland’s climate and energy strategy.

Fortum Battery Recycling exploring new hub devel­opment in Germany

T&E: Denmark, Luxembourg, Netherlands lead deployments of zero-emission buses in Europe

In Sweden, Norway and Finland, respectively 26%, 24%, and 23% of urban buses registered in 2019 were zero-emission (electric or hydrogen). For example, the Dutch government specified in 2016 that all newly-procured buses must be zero-emission from 2025, and from 2030, all buses in use must be zero-emissions.

HYBRIT produces hydrogen-reduced sponge iron on pilot scale

With SSAB’s conversion, we will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 10 percent in Sweden and 7 percent in Finland.
