Today at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Kia took the wraps off its new compact car, the 2014 Kia Forte. As our live images from the show floor demonstrate, the 2014 Forte is a sleeker, more aerodynamic four-door sedan than the car it replaces--now much closer in shape to its Hyundai Elantra sibling.

The Hertz Corporation, which includes the Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty brands, has expanded of its Green Traveler Collection car rental fleet to include the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid ( earlier post ) in select cities across the US. Additionally, the company currently has 15 solar locations, with projected growth to 20 by 2016.

Other cars at the demonstration included vehicles from Daimler, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen. Honda is currently leasing seven of its Clarity fuel cell cars to customers in the Los Angeles area but otherwise few are in customers’ hands. The vehicles received rave reviews.

Hyundai Partnering with Korean battery companies for hybrids. Expects production around 2014. Hyundai top 12/18/07 Hyundai Motor, Koreas largest automaker, said it is considering developing a plug-in hybrid car, a move expected to follow bigger rivals such as Japans Toyota Motor and General Motors of the United States.
