Report: Nissan’s Second Electric Vehicle Expected in 2012

In an interview with The Nikkei, Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn said that the company is working to release its second electric vehicle—expected to be a compact commercial model—in 2012.

Nissan’s first EV, the LEAF, goes on sale late this year in japan, the US and Europe. Alliance partner Renault will introduce three electric vehicle models in 2011.

Nissan and Renault aim to lift their combined output capacity for electric vehicles to 500,000 units a year as soon as possible.
