Volvo Car Corporation is postponing its plans to produce a full hybrid based on a diesel engine and instead will introduce a series-produced plug-in diesel hybrid (PHEV) in Europe as early as 2012. The Audi Group has calculated its corporate carbon footprint and is the first premium automobile manufacturer to be certified according to the international standard ISO 14064. As the DEKRA experts confirm, the corporate carbon footprint of the Audi Group worldwide amounts to 57 million tons of CO 2 equivalent (CO 2 e) each year.

Volvo Cars confirmed that it will introduce a series-produced plug-in hybrid diesel as early as 2012. Volvo had first suggested the 2012 date for a diesel PHEV in September 2009. Volvo’s BEV, the C30 DRIVe Electric ( earlier post ), will go into production in early 2011 and run in test fleets in Europe, China and the US.

The Volvo Car Corporation has begun production of the C30 Electric ( earlier post ); initial deliveries to leasing customers, mainly companies, authorities and governmental bodies, will take place immediately after the summer. Volvo says it will build about 250 cars by the end of 2012, possibly more if market interest takes off.
