Avenger assemble! Full pricing for pint-sized Jeep Avenger that’s been designed to fight the Hyundai Kona Electric

The compact Jeep Avenger electric SUV has been priced from $53,990 plus on-road costs in Australia.

The European-designed and built Avenger will go on-sale in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2024.

There will be three model grades, staring with the $53,990 Longitude, then climbing through the mid-spec $57,990 Limited to the $63,990 Summit.

That pricing places the Avenger up against the Hyundai Kona Electric and Peugeot e-2008 compact SUVs.

The top-end of the MG4 line-up, the Nissan Leaf e+, the BYD Seal, Volvo EX30 and the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y RWD are also in this price range.

All three Avenger models are powered the front wheel via a 115kW/260Nm e-motor fed by a 54kWh NMC lithium-ion battery.

Average consumption is claimed at 15.6 to 15.8kWh/100km depending on the model while range is up to 396km and the maximum DC fast charging rate is 100kW.

Once plugged in a 20-80 per cent top-up takes around 24 minutes.

Using an 11kW AC wallbox, meanwhile, and a full charge (0-100 per cent) is said to take 5.5 hours.

The Avenger’s performance is aided by being quite light for an EV at 1502kg. The five-door five seat wagon is also pretty small at 4.08 metres long, 1.78 metres wide and standing up to 1.54 metres tall.

Those measurements aren’t  far off the Hyundai Kona electric that is longer (4.18m) a fraction wider (1.80m) and a little taller (1.57m).

When it lands in Australia standard equipment levels will be high. The base Longitude will pack 17-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a 7.0-inch digital instrument panel, keyless start, adaptive cruise and a reversing camera.

Safety tech includes AEB, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist and driver attention assist.

What’s missing on the base spec is the fastest 11kW AC charging, but you get that on the mid-spec Limited that also adds a widescreen 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, plus leather seats, a wireless charging pad, a second-row USB port, sat-nav, a power tailgate, electric-fold mirrors, puddle lamps and a useful height-adjust rear cargo floor.

At the top of the tree is the Summit that throws in larger 18-inch alloy wheels, higher-grade leather heated massage seats, privacy glass, LED headlamps, LED fog lights with cornering function, a gloss black seven-slot grille and a sunroof.

Seven colours are available with the Jeep Avenger – Ruby, Volcano, Stone, Lake, Sun, Graphite and Snow – five of those can be combined with an optional black roof if you fork out a further $495.

While all-wheel drive versions are coming based on the hybrid version of the Avenger, the all-electric small Jeep will be strictly front-drive, although it does offer up to 200mm of ground clearance and comes with the traction-boosting Selec-Terrain and hill descent control.

Exact times on when Avenger will land in Q4 will be released in the coming months.
