First Acura electric SUV to be named ZDX; co-developed with GM

Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to test new seawater scrubber device to cut vessel emissions

The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are co-sponsoring a project to test a seawater scrubber system for the first time on a container ship, beginning this spring. Jointly funded by the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, TAP has. provided more than $5 million in project funding since the program began in 2007.

Los Angeles Harbor Commission Launches 2009 Alternative Fuel Truck Incentive Program with $44.2M

The Los Angeles Harbor Commission recently approved up to $44.2 million in Port funding toward the 2009 Clean Truck Incentive Program at the Port of Los Angeles. This initiative follows a 2008 incentive program that put into service more than 2,200 trucks that currently meet or exceed 2007 US EPA emission standards.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines pays $253K to CARB for violating at-berth regulations

The rule requires container, passenger and refrigerated cargo ships to reduce emissions while docked at California’s busiest ports, including Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland, Hueneme, San Francisco and San Diego. Power reduction requirements have been phased in over time and increased from 70% to 80% in 2020.

US EPA awards $9.6M in DERA grants to reduce harmful diesel emissions in California

City of Los Angeles Harbor Department (LAHD), Port of Los Angeles received $279,750 to replace four older Tier 2 diesel engines on two tugboats operating in San Pedro Bay, with cleaner Tier 4 engines. The project will also replace one diesel sweeper at the Port of Los Angeles with two cleaner Tier 4 engines.

CARB approves updated “At-Berth” regulation, expanding efforts to cut pollution from ships in California ports

The rule builds on progress achieved by the At-Berth Regulation adopted in 2007. Tankers docking at the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach must also comply starting in 2025, while tankers in Northern California have until 2027. Auto carriers will need to comply starting in 2025.
