Neste Oil and Raisioagro to research the potential of straw as a renewable diesel feedstock via microbial oil

Large quantities of waste straw are produced as agricultural residue in Finland and elsewhere, and only a small proportion of this is currently used. The project will study whether a logistically effective and efficient, large-scale straw harvesting chain could be created in Finland. The cells are then harvested and the oil recovered.

Neste Oil starts up Europes largest renewable diesel plant in Rotterdam

Neste Oil already operates a renewable diesel plant in Singapore that came on stream in 2010 and two plants in Porvoo in Finland that came on stream in 2007 and 2009. The plant employs approximately 150 people, consisting of 110 Neste Oil employees and 40 service provider personnel.
