Volkswagen Group expands presence in Russia with agreements with GAZ

GAZ personnel were trained at Volkswagen and ŠKODA plants in Germany and the Czech Republic, and a new training center was opened at GAZ. MAN has delivered more than 5,500 engines for GAZ Group’s LIAZ city buses since 2007, operating in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other major cities in Russia as well as some export markets.

EEA TERM Report Finds Efficiency Gains of Clean Vehicle Technology Being Offset By Ongoing Increases in Travel

The report’s findings for the period 1997–2007 present a mixed picture, with some improvements in air pollutants and serious concerns regarding persistent growth in transport’s greenhouse gas emissions. Emissions of Air Pollutants down in EU-27

The European Community’s air pollutant emission inventory report released by the European Environment Agency finds that in 2007, sulphur oxides (SO x ) emissions were down by 72 % from 1990 levels. EU-27 emissions of all four pollutants were lower in 2007 than in 2006.

Growing Number of EU Countries Levying CO2 Taxes on Cars and Incentivizing Plug-ins

By April last year, sixteen Member States had CO 2 -related taxation, up from fourteen in 2008, eleven in 2007 and nine in 2006. The Czech Republic and Romania take the number of Member States up to fifteen. New to the list are Germany, that introduced such system in the summer of 2009, and Latvia. New to the list is Belgium.
