The Chevrolet Volt extended range electric vehicle will provide customers with a standard, eight-year/100,000-mile (161,000 km) warranty on its lithium-ion battery pack. As a quick comparison, Tesla’s battery-electric Roadster has a bumper-to-bumper 3-year, 36,000-mile (58,000 km) warranty.

General Motors will invest $336 million in the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant to begin production of the Chevrolet Volt extended range electric vehicle in 2010. It is the hub for the wheel that we began rolling in 2007 when the Volt debuted at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
