Verifying Elektromotive, a UK-based firm that designs and manufactures electric vehicle charging stations, has been granted a patent for its Elektrobay charging station. Introduced in 2006, the Elektrobay was the first public charging station installed in the UK on the streets of Westminster in London.

The city of Brighton UK) plans to install 20 Elektrobay roadside charging stations for plug-in electric vehicles (PEV) over the coming year. Plans to install 20 Elektrobay roadside charging stations over the coming year are part of a concerted effort to encourage zero-emissions motoring in the city. Councillors in Brighton have already given the go ahead to install an initial 10 Elektrobays in Brighton by the end of 2009, with a further 10 planned for installation early next year.
