To source the new lightweight track-capable carbon fiber wheels that are standard on the new Shelby GT350R Mustang, Ford partnered with Australia-based Carbon Revolution. Carbon Revolution first began delivering composite wheels in 2004 for Formula SAE campaigns.

At the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit this week, Ford delivered first proof of that focus with the reveal of the new Ford GT carbon-fiber supercar, as well as the new F-150 Raptor based on the new aluminum F-150 and the Shelby GT350R Mustang. Ford has been selling hybrids and, later plug-ins, since 2004.

Several dozen prototypes on 15-passenger van since 2004; now in second generation development; no production plans. He said he plans to discuss the idea with [Caroll] Shelby and [Lee] Iacocca. Daimler/Mercedes Took over Daimler/Chrysler Sprinter PHEV program. Showed BlueZERO E-CELL PLUS series PHEV concept in December 08.
