The car’s announcement coincides with the 20th anniversary of Cadillac’s V-Series, which debuted at Sebring in 2004 with the CTS-V. Cadillac has since created several performance cars, including the most recent and most rowdy, the Escalade-V. Cadillac currently sells two EVs, the Lyriq SUV and the Celestiq sedan.

You could get a new Alero with a Getrag five-on-the-floor all the way through the demise of Oldsmobile in 2004. I'd been looking for a discarded 1999-2004 Alero or 1999-2005 Grand Am with a manual transmission for years, with no success until I spotted this car. Feel free to debate these theological points in the comments.

With more new models, the expansion of its local manufacturing capability and a growing dealer network, GM expects to increase Cadillac sales from 30,000 units last year to 100,000 units in 2015. Its longer-term goal is to take Cadillac’s share of China’s luxury car market to 10% by 2020.

Created from the old GM’s strongest operations in an asset sale approved by the Federal bankruptcy court on 5 July ( earlier post ), the new GM is built on four core brands: Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC. The four brands will offer a total of 34 nameplates by 2010, compared to old GM’s total of 48 in 2008 and 63 in 2004.
