EPA issues ANPR on Clean Trucks Initiative, seeking input from public and stakeholders

The eventual CTI rulemaking will establish new, more stringent emission standards for NO x and other pollutants for highway heavy-duty engines. From 2007 to 2017, US NO x emissions dropped by more than 40%. EPA last revised NO x standards for on-highway heavy-duty trucks and engines in January 2001. The EPA Administrator announced in November 2018 that EPA would pursue the Cleaner Trucks Initiative (CTI) to update NO x emissions standards for heavy-duty trucks.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched the Cleaner Trucks Initiative (CTI) to further decrease NO x emissions from on-highway heavy-duty trucks and engines. The CTI will include a future rulemaking that will update the existing NO x standard which was last set in 2001 while also streamlining compliance and certification requirements. The US has made major reductions in NO x emissions, but it’s been nearly 20 years since EPA updated these standards.

Senate bill would enable sales of E15 and higher ethanol blends year round; RVP waiver

The bill would amend the Clean Air Act to extend the Reid vapor pressure (RVP) waiver to ethanol blends above 10%. Each year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates RVP for gasoline and gasoline-ethanol blended during the summer ozone season from 1 June until 15 September.
