The city of Gdynia in Poland has signed a contract with Solaris for the delivery of 30 trolleybuses worth more than 95 million PLN (US$28 million) in total. Gdynia was the buyer of the first trolleybus produced by Solaris in 2000. For its achievements in this matter Gdynia has won numerous awards both in Poland and abroad.

A new study by MIT researchers, published this month in Atmospheric Environment , finds that in Europe, 10 major auto manufacturers produced diesel cars, sold between 2000 and 2015, that generate up to 16 times more NO x emissions on the road than in regulatory tests—a level that exceeds European limits but does not violate any EU laws.

The researchers first calculated the historic contributions from transport, concluding that transport in total has contributed 9% of total net man-made warming in the year 2000. By sector, they found that road transport is the largest contributor—11% of the warming in 2000 is due to this sector. Aviation contributed 4% and rail 1%.
