The most awaited electric scooter from TVS has been introduced to the Indian market and it is called the ‘TVS X’. TVS X is the second electric scooter from TVS, the first one was the TVS I-Qube.

Unlike its predecessor, the company is presenting their new electric scooter as a “premium electric crossover”

In this article, let us look at some of the key features of this new machine from TVS Motors.

TVS X: Design Inspired By Creon

The TVS X is based on the TVS XLETON platform and features a split seat configuration that is usually seen in maxi-scooters. Essentially, the TVS X is inspired by the Creon concept which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo by TVS.

The new machine comes with LED taillights with LED indicators and vertically stacked LED headlamps. The spine of the frame fills the gap left by the absence of a floorboard in the scooter. Thus it has a motorcycle-style Perimeter frame and riders must swing their legs over the vehicle like they would a motorbike. The X features a 770mm seat height and a 19-litre under-seat storage capacity.

Now let us discuss the power train.

TVS X: The Power Train

TVS X receives power from a PMSM electric motor capable of producing 11kW of peak power (7kW of continuous power) and 40Nm of peak torque.

The machine has a battery capacity of 4.4 kWh. It is claimed that the TVS X can go 140 km on a single full charge; we have yet to verify it.

The battery pack can be charged using the Smart X Home quick charger, which can charge it from 0% to 50% in 50 minutes, a 3kW fast charger that is an add-on option, or a 950W portable charger that can charge it from 0% to 80% in 4.3 hours and the portable charger comes with a price tag of Rs. 16,275

But what about the performance?

TVS X: The Performance Department

According to the company, the TVS X can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in 2.6 seconds and from 0 to 60 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The electric scooter has a peak speed of 105 kph and comes with riding modes called Xtealth, Xtride, and Xonic that change the performance and range of the scooter

The X comes with a mono-shock in the rear and a telescopic front suspension. A 220mm disc at the front and a 195mm disc at the back are used for braking. The scooter has 12-inch alloy wheels in the front and 110-section tyres at the back.

TVS X: Setting Industry Standards

The TVS X electric scooter comes with many industry-first features. When not in use as a scooter, it can play films and games on its 10.25-inch TFT dash with Bluetooth connectivity, GPS, and music playing. Other features include keyless entry, riding modes, single-channel ABS, hill hold assistance and reverse assistance.

Now let us look at the opponents the TVS X will have to compete in the market.
