Audi plans to field additional cars at selected races such as the 12-hour race at Sebring (USA) and in the 6-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) which doubles as a dress rehearsal for Le Mans for the Audi squad. Audi has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans a total of ten times since the year 2000.

Athough the US has made progress in road safety—reducing crash deaths by 31% from 2000 to 2013—other high-income countries reduced crash deaths by an average of 56% during the same period. There were more than 32,000 crash deaths in the US in 2013, with more than $380 million in direct medical costs.
