Hero Electric retained top position in E2W sales & delivers 100 e-bikes to Lightning Logistics

Hero Electric recently announced that it has retained the top position in the electric two-wheeler segment with sales of over 6,500 units last month. The overall rise in demand for electric vehicles fuels the growth for Hero Electric high-speed vehicles, securing its top position in the segment, the company said in a statement. The company’s city speed scooters Optima and NYX in the high-speed category continue to drive the sales, it added.is targeting the 1,000 sales touchpoints mark by the end of the financial year 2021-22. The company will open 300 new sales touchpoints across the country.

Sohinder Gill, CEO, Hero Electric said, “We strongly believe that a robust and well-equipped network is the key to a satisfied customer as everything cannot be explained on a virtual platform. Our well-trained selling and service points are ready to answer any of the questions that a customer may have in the operation, usage and maintenance of our electric scooters.

“The industry has seen its biggest growth for EVs pertaining to the compressive approach and consumer-friendly policies, further propelling the demand for sustainable mobility solutions. “With the increased awareness and better infrastructure, the company has achieved a larger sale volume and eyes upward growth trajectory in the coming months,” Hero Electric CEO Sohinder Gill said.

The company is looking forward to the festive season and is all geared to meet the rising electric two-wheeler demand in the country, he added. With a vision to expand and meet the rising demand for electric two-wheelers, Hero Electric recently announced the expansion of its production capacity of 5 lakh units by March 2022.

High-speed electric scooters sales over 15,000 

In August, Hero Electric has witnessed the sales of its high-speed electric scooters of over 15,000 in the first half of the year. Last year in the first half the company was able to sell only 3,270 units due to the outbreak of a global coronavirus pandemic. The company said that after the second wave of COVID-19, it witnessed recovery with sales of over 4,500 high-speed electric two-wheelers in July this year when compared to 399 units in the same month last year.

In last month, the company had announced that it has recently delivered Hero Optima HX Dual battery bikes to D-Man Services Private Limited an Uttar Pradesh based private ltd. Recently, it has delivered 100 Hero Electric bikes to Lightning Logistics. It has partnered with Lightning Logistics to strengthen its mission towards zero-emission.

Setting up 10,000 EV charging stations by 2022

Recently the company had announced that it will be boosting the existing charging infrastructure in India with a set up of 10,000 EV charging stations by 2022. The new move has been announced under Hero Electric’s partnership with the Delhi-based EV charging solutions start-up Massive Mobility.

The company also said that its new set-up will be available for use by all EV owners and will thus help ‘standardization between manufacturers.’ Hero Electric’s new EV partner Massive Mobility is a startup that aims to establish a ‘smart connected network’ for all the charging needs of 3-wheeler and 2-wheeler EVs. It enables charging point and parking services to EV owners through its cloud-based solutions.

Hero Electric has raised Rs 220 crore in its Series B round of funding led by UAE’s Gulf Islamic Investments (GII). The company is going to invest Rs 700 crore by 2025 for the expansion of its business including establishing a new manufacturing unit with an annual capacity of 10 lakh units and increasing its current plant in Ludhiana to 3 lakh units per annum from 75,000 units at present.

It aims to sell around 10 lakh units a year by 2025-26. It is also preparing for research and development (R&D), marketing, dealer network expansion, supply chain and charging stations for the growth of its electric two-wheelers. Naveen Munjal, managing director of Hero Electric said that “Hero aims to sell over one million units every year over the next couple of years.”
