Refreshed Mercedes V-Class is the perfect vehicle for a summer getaway
Considering a campervan for the summer? Fancy something that’s even more upmarket than the go-to Volkswagen California. Then the lavish Mercedes-Benz V-Class might just be for you.
Priced from £48,995, a refreshed version is now available to order with ‘standard’ ‘long’ and ‘extra'-long’ wheelbase variants on offer. If you want a fully equipped Marco Polo camper version, however, the price shoots up to £57,550.
The V-Class is available with two diesel engines – the 220d and the 300d – producing 163hp and 236hp respectively. Both can deliver around 47mpg and come with a nine-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
Entry-level Sport models come as standard with Active Parking, electrically folding mirrors; 18in alloy wheels, electric sliding doors, heated comfort front seats including armrests and what Mercedes calls a ‘luxury centre console’. Long versions get a panoramic sunroof too. AMG Line models add 19in alloy wheels, AMG body styling, diamond radiator grille and carbon effect trim.
Exclusive line models feature all of the above equipment and add Driving Assistance package including Lane Keep Assist, massage-function luxury seats, a 360-degree camera, pan roof, a fridge in the centre console and a Burmester sound system.
And now the one you really want to know about… The Marco Polo. It’s available in all the above trim levels, but comes kitted out with a pop-up roof, two-seater bed, three-zone climate control and swivelling heated seats.
Opt for the Marco Polo Sport and the pop-up roof gains an electric motor, the interior gets a fridge and kitchenette complete with two hobs and a sink, a diesel night air heater is added and you’ll find yacht wood flooring in the rear. In short, it’s one of the most luxurious compact campers out there.
