Statistics on the reach of the Veloz Electric for All ‘40 Million Reasons to Go Electric’ campaign

Electric For All, powered by Veloz, recently released a report on research conducted by the organization showing that its 40 Million Reasons to Go Electric campaign was an impressive success.

When it comes to electric vehicle (EV) cost, choice, and range, the campaign significantly improved the perception of EVs in California, and myths surrounding these perceptions were debunked.

As a result of the campaign:

  • 74% of respondents said they were more likely to purchase an EV in the future

  • 40% of respondents said their perception of EVs had changed for the better

Results also reflected the campaign’s focus on equity in EV car ownership in underserved communities.

Reported on a points basis, positive perceptions of EVs rose in Disadvantaged and Low Income (D/LI) communities by 15 points as opposed to 3 points in non-D/LI communities with regard to EVs saving money over time.

Statistics also showed that positive perceptions of EVs rose in D/LI communities 16 to 4 points with regard to the convenience of charging EVs, 22 to 12 points with regard to EV affordability, and 28 to 15 points when it came to the choices of EV make and model availability.

Barriers still exist

Veloz made clear that it understands that more work needs to be done. Comments from survey participants reflected range anxiety concerns, including an issue with the reliability of electricity, as well as concerns that EVs are too expensive as well as unsafe and unreliability.

Participants also mentioned a preference for gas engines, their inability to find the appropriate EV model, their dissatisfaction with EV design, and their unwillingness to make environmental issues a priority.
