In the interim, if Saturn retailers or other investors present a plan that would allow a spin-off or sale of Saturn Distribution Corporation, GM would be open to any such possibility.

So far I have purchased a Kilovac EV200 Series Contactor, Tyco EV200AAANA from a man for $50 each. Hope to finish the Volvo this weekend and then start de-ICE ing the Saturn. So I guess I now have a cheap DC to DC convertor. I tested them both with my power supply and they clunk when I apply 12V so I assume all good.

While people can purchase neighborhood electric vehicles today for about $10K, they only have a top speed of 35 miles an hour or so, essentially glorified golf-carts. The Saturn came up a distant second, but everyone agreed that the Civic was the best.

The first two vehicles available for AMP conversions are the GM Saturn Sky and the GM Pontiac Solstice. AMP will purchase standard Remy HVH250 components and design and develop their own motor housing and interface components to fit the needs of the specific vehicle being converted to electric.

As part of the new plan, GM will accelerate the wind-down or sale of HUMMER, Saturn and Saab to the end of 2009, and phase out Pontiac by the end of 2010. The revised plan moves up the resolution of Saab, Saturn, and Hummer to the end of 2009, at the latest.
