Brad Hippert, the president of Porteon (www.porteon.net), and I chatted about production of NEVs (neighborhood electric vehicles) in Portland soon. John Benson (aka JRAB) brought his functioning 914 DC EV conversion (originally from Electro Automotive) too.

Their first production car (not a prototype) just came out a few days ago. The federal rebate on qualified vehicles (all hybrids at this point) is up around $2000, I think. Maybe for 2008, at least the Tesla roadster will get on the list.

The motivation was to see if I could get by with as little oil products as possible. After seeing the movie Who Killed The Electric Car , I got the nutty idea earlier this year to purchase an all-electric vehicle to commute to work.

Well, today was quite productive. My friend Nicole came over for a few hours to help me finish the transmission and put the motor/transmission together. While rummaging through my bolts last night, I discovered that I had forgot to install the flywheel bolt plate and had just put the bolts right into the flywheel.
