After looking at the specs on the ElectroAuto website, I'm thinking that a maximum input power rating of 50000 watts is really too much. Here are the ElectroAuto specs: AC24 Aircooled Motor Length Diameter Weight Controller Efficiency 15.55" 9.45" 83.6 DMOC445 83% Specifications @ 156 V Input Ft.Lbs. Amps RPM HP KW Peak/Maximum 54.57

I just got an e-mail back from Electro Automotive from CC-Power regarding the failed DC-DC converter. I prefer not to comment on it but simply wish to pass it on to others who might have wondered what the manufacturer said.

Commuting.

I'm getting slightly more power on the freeway now and starting from a dead stop is acceptable. Although, if I put the car under heavy acceleration for a long period of time, the batteries "brown-out" down to 128V or so and the controller cuts back the power significantly as the voltage drops. The batteries are starting to break in.

I hacked together a 160V DC power source by simply tapping off the bulk capacitor inside one of our power supplies. During the daytime, this isn't bad since the headlights consume most of the power. I hooked up a.01 Supposedly, the battery can supply 30 amps for an hour, so I should be okay with a 30 minute commute.

While not a racer, this entry was rather interesting since its electric motor didn't power the wheels. but it powered a huge fan on the back of the car. Miles uses Hawker Genesis batteries to power the antique vehicle. Here's Miles' antique vehicle that he brings to most of the OEVA monthly gatherings.

Here's the famous KillaCycle powered by just under 1000 A123 batteries, the same kind that go into the DeWalt cordless drills. Here's Otmar's DC powered 914, controlled by his Zilla1K controller. The KillaCycle ended up posting a run on Friday of 152mph in the quarter mile. They will try again tonight to go faster.

This was originally just a human powered vehicle made in Belgium, but the owner added an electric motor to power the rear third wheel to get up the hills in Portland (of which there aren't many in Belgium).
