This year’s National Drive Electric Week, presented by the Electric Auto Association along with the Sierra ClubPlugin America, and EV HybridNoir, will no doubt reflect the skyrocketing interest in electric vehicles.

Plans for the September 25 through October 3 event have been made around the country to take full advantage of this opportune climate. Venues from a zoo in Asheboro, North Carolina and a raceway in Thornburg, Virginia, to a town hall in Exeter, New Hampshire, and a library in Taos, New Mexico, will provide engaging backdrops for events scheduled in 45 U.S. states and Canada.

National Drive Electric Week Platinum level sponsors include Nissan and Wells Fargo, and the Silver Level sponsor for 2021 is Clipper Creek. Bronze Level sponsors include Edison International, Enelx, Community Partners, California Clean Air Day, Climate Action Reserve, and Electric For All.

Coming up soon…

Many Electric Auto Association chapters across the country are participating in auto shows. Drive Electric Colorado will be working with Xcel Energy to bring a variety of new EVs to the EV Experience and Ride and Drive at the Denver Auto Show from September 15 through 19. Factory and dealer representatives will be on hand to answer questions.

The Big Woodinville Car Show in Washington will feature “Classics, Exotics, Muscle, Custom, EVs and some you have never seen,” according to its pomo material, along with music and other entertainments.

A Cars and Coffee event will be held in Clay, New York, while Avalon, an all-electric golf cart community on Catalina Island off the Southern California coast, will display three electric buses. In Canada, the Saskatchewan Electric Vehicle Association is counting on more business sponsors than ever before.

Gifts are in the offing, too, including the distribution of Visa gift certificates of varying amounts at many events across the country. In addition, all test drive or test ride participants at the National Drive Electric Week event at the Cincinnati Art Museum in Ohio will receive complimentary admission to the museum’s  Paintings, Politics and the Monument Men special exhibit.

The main theme? Larger than ever

“At our chapter’s last in-person National Drive Electric Week event, held in 2019, we had over 100 Teslas participating,” said Jim Stack, President of the Phoenix Electric Vehicle Association. “It’s likely this year will be even bigger.”

“Arizona is becoming a major hub for EVs and we’re excited that our chapter events will help further educate the public,” Stack continued. “The demand is certainly rising and we’re prepared to meet the challenge.”

Volunteers needed across North America

Scores of volunteers are needed for National Drive Electric Week events nationwide. We invite all Electric Auto Association members and supporters in our community to sign-up to help out.
