Indian Oil to install EV charging facility at 100 outlets in Maharashtra

The State-owned Indian Oil is planning to install electric vehicle charging points at 100 of its outlets across Maharashtra, including five in the Marathwada region. It’s General Manager (Retail Sales) Ajay Kumar Shrivastav had attended a function in Aurangabad in which it has only one fuel pump installed with electric charging, petrol and diesel, as well as a Khadi outlet, was dedicated to the nation under ”Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.”

The officials said that the Aurangabad rural police-run outlet has started last year in ”Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” across Maharashtra. Shrivastav said, “We have added a facility of charging electric vehicles here after the announcement of the ”Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” initiative on this pump.”

He said that Indian Oil is planning to install nearly 100 electric vehicle charging facilities across the state by the end of this financial year. “Five will be installed in the Marathwada region. Wherever needed, the charging guns will be upgraded from 15 KW capacities to 45 KW. If needed we can install a new facility also.”

Recently, the Indian Oil Corporation’s research and development (R&D) centre is exploring how hydrogen can be used as fuel since the early 2000s in their recent test the hydrogen has been mixed with compressed natural gas (CNG) to make H-CNG.

The officials at the R&D facility of Indian Oil said it is the way to adopt hydrogen as a fuel. They are also in the process to close the tender for the production of the clean hydrogen and trailing the fuel. The trials are expected to be complete by 2022.
