Badlands NGL to develop $4B plant in North Dakota to convert ethane from Bakken NGLs into polyethylene

Badlands NGL, LLC, announced the development of a North Dakota manufacturing plant that will convert ethane (C 2 H 6 ), a byproduct of natural gas processing, into polyethylene, which is used to make a wide variety of end-use consumer and industrial plastics. EIA: rising North Dakota oil production and demand spurs two new small refineries

One of two new small (20,000 bbl/d each) refineries being built in North Dakota broke ground this week, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) noted in a brief. The Dakota Prairie facility is scheduled to be built in 20 months. North Dakota currently has one refinery, the Tesoro Mandan refinery located near Bismarck.
