The Saturn Division spent the first half of the 1990s printing money for The General with its no-haggle pricing policy and plastic-bodied cars that only rusted in areas you couldn't see easily, and all those cars were based on a single platform: the S Series. But we're not here to mourn Saturn.

GM and Honda earlier collaborated in a powertrain cross-supply arrangement in 1999 under which Honda manufactured 50,000 V-6 engines for the Saturn VUE and Honda received diesel engines from GM’s Isuzu affiliate for use in Europe.

Geo renamed the Nova as the Geo Prizm and added other models jointly produced with Isuzu and Suzuki in North America and Japan, but separated them from its “American” cars. During this same time GM created Saturn , a totally new brand, which arrived in 1990 with its own showrooms, advertising and vehicles.

The Volkswagen Routan , Saab 9-7X , Mitsubishi Precis , Acura SLX , Isuzu I-Series , 2006-2009 Mitsubishi Raider and 1988-1993 Pontiac LeMans come to mind here. By the time the Equator hit showrooms, Isuzu's once-mighty presence in the American-market truck business was no more.
