The impetus for this change came from a study by the US Idaho National Lab [ 2 ]. In fact, the Idaho National Labs reported to the US Department of Energy that the present fleet of Chevrolet Volts in the USA has been shown to use about 80% electricity and 20% gasoline when averaged over the year.
