NDEW is a nationwide celebration that is meant to raise awareness of the benefits of driving electric vehicles and their plug-in hybrid cousins. Plug In America, along with the Electric Vehicle Association and the Sierra Club , joined the effort and the first National Plug In Day was held on October 16th, 2011.

As I've blogged previously , I want to believe as much as the next guy that the Volt - GM's announced plug-in hybrid - is real. Sierra Club, UCS and NRDC should have been indicted along with CARB and Big Oil in the film Who Killed the Electric Car? I'd like to see enviros point out that CAFE can be achieved with plug-in cars.

The general theme (and purpose) is: Plug-in Arizona!

“Any new technology like the Chevy Volt takes time to become profitable,&# said Jay Friedland, the legislative director for Plug-In America , an electric-car advocacy group. is hoping to launch the Volt in late 2010 with a price tag of about $40,000. About $750 million is needed for near-term Volt development, according to the company.
