General Motors Defense unveiled its Electric Military Concept Vehicle (eMCV) at the Modern Day Marine 2023 trade show in Washington, D.C. The eMCV is a military vehicle based on the GMC Hummer EV, utilizing the same Ultium platform and drivetrain.

At the recent Modern Day Marine 2023 expo in Washington, D.C., GM Defense unveiled a fresh concept for a tactical vehicle based on the GMC Hummer EV platform. The new vehicle, known as the Electric Military Concept Vehicle (eMCV), utilizes the same Ultium platform and drivetrain found in the retail version of the Hummer EV.

Normal Motors’ electrical Hummer — a nameplate with army roots — is the substructure for GM Protection’s Electrical Army Idea Automobile. The GM subsidiary presented the car,, in accordance with the GMC Hummer EV pickup, in June on the Trendy Month Marine expo in Washington, D.C.

While Rivian’s R1T was the first electric pickup on the market, the GMC Hummer EV joined the list shortly after. The F-150 Lightning is second with 200,000 pre-orders, and the Rivian R1T and R1S and Hummer EV have 90,000 and 65,000, respectively. However, the breakdown of how these pre-orders are being played is most interesting.

Homendy shared some of her issues with electric vehicles during a speech in Washington to the Transportation Research Board. Homendy cited the GMC Hummer EV’s weight in particular, as the vehicle is so heavy that its 2,900-pound (1,300 kilogram) battery pack alone weighs about the same as a typical Honda Civic.
