Honda beat everybody to the production gasoline-electric hybrid game in the United States, putting the Insight in showrooms in 1999. That car was the 2007 Saturn Vue Green Line, and I managed to find one in a Denver-area car graveyard recently. The Vue's platform outlived Saturn and still lives today, though.

General Motors and Honda are establishing the auto industry’s first manufacturing joint venture—Fuel Cell System Manufacturing, LLC, FCSM)—to mass-produce an advanced hydrogen fuel cell system that will be used in future products from each company. Next-generation fuel cell stack co-developed by Honda and GM.

Reported sales of hybrids in the US reported by Toyota, Honda, Ford, GM and Nissan dropped 45.5% year-on-year in April to 21,735, despite full month sales for the new Honda Insight and the Ford Fusion and Milan hybrids. The Insight sold 2,096 units in April, and pushed combined Honda hybrid sales up 25% year-on-year.

Honda posted a total of 1,646 hybrids in November, up 57.8%. Sales of the Saturn VUE mild hybrid were down 31% to 134 units, for 9.8% of all VUEs sold. The Escape/Mariner hybrids sold 960 units, down 30% year-on-year, for 5.6% of all Escape/Mariner sales. The new Fusion/Milan hybrid sedans sold 1,401 units, representing 8.7%

The Saturn VUE hybrid posted 188 units, for 6.4% of all VUEs sold. Honda posted 1,362 units of the Civic Hybrid, down 24.7% The two-mode Sierra pickup joined the Silverado two-mode pickup for 47 units representing 0.2% of combined sales for all models of the two trucks. The Chevy Malibu Hybrid posted 197 units for 1.7%
